It’s been a really exciting time since our new app ‘Signly’ was launched on Monday. Calls and messages from broadcast and print media wanting to do pieces, bloggers keen to share their opinions, and friends in the deaf community saying how delighted they are that the app is now out there!

Signly is a free app (Apple and Android). It sits on your own smartphone or tablet. The first place it’s up and running is the excellent and pioneering Roald Dahl museum in Great Missenden, Bucks.

At Roald Dahl there are nearly 30 points around the various galleries where you can just point your device at the symbol and a BSL interpretation video will be delivered to you. If you fancy seeing it in operations, have a look at this video:

Although it’s only at Roald Dahl at the moment, we’re talking to lots of organisations in travel, health, education, publishing – all sorts – so hopefully you’ll be seeing the signs for it all over the place in the next year or so – look out for the Signly logo.

If you have something you’d like to make more accessible for sign language users – posters, books, notices, menus, websites, anything… get in touch!
