At Deafax, we believe in equal opportunities. Our staff are a vibrant mix of different skills, cultures and backgrounds. We believe in deaf and hearing integration meaning that we have a blend of deaf and hearing staff with a bi-lingual language policy.
But don't let us tell you about them - click on a picture and let them tell you themselves.
Ms Helen Lansdown
Chief Executive
"Working at Deafax is an inspiration! I have worked in many different positions at Deafax over 14 years before being given the privilege of running the organisation. Deafax is at a good stage in its growth with many new ideas and projects generating pioneering work. Long may it continue!"
Dr Kirsty Crombie Smith
Operations Director
"I started working at Deafax in 2005 and have enjoyed every minute. There are always new challenges and projects and we are achieving more targets and supporting more people than ever. My role means I get to be involved in all areas of Deafax's work and get to see ideas go through the development process. I also get the opportunity to tell others about our work. The Deafax team is fun, dynamic and exciting to work with, the different ethnic mix and deaf-hearing partnerships mean that we have an access for all approach which I really believe in and value".
Mr Ken Carter
Director of Research
"Having set up Deafax over 21 years ago, I am immensely proud of all those deaf and hearing people who have helped to make our evolving charitable company such a success. We have truly empowered and transformed so many deaf and hearing children, young people and adults' lives locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Let's continue to set our sights as high as they can go and feed deaf and hearing minds worldwide. Remember there no limits to our imagination...so think the unthinkable and be challenged!!"
Mrs Beryl Strickland
Project Manager - West Midlands
"Deafax has provided me with the opportunity to work in an innovative and forward thinking environment, one that really recognises that deaf-hearing integration releases potential. My passion is enabling deaf adults through ICT and improved literacy. Deafax believes this too and fully supports me in achieving this".
Miss Jessica Strickland
West Midlands Office Manager
"I started work at Deafax in an administration role but this has grown and I am now involved in developing literacy resources for adults. Deafax has a friendly, positive and motivating atmosphere. I really enjoy working here as I am continually encouraged to grow and develop my skills".
Mr Graham D Hocking
Training Manager
"I have worked at Deafax for the past 9 years in various roles. Managing the Deaf Youth team is my biggest and the most rewarding challenge of all. It an absolute joy to learn from the schools from all over England, where we have delivered 'Personal Development workshops', how much the students have benefited from our 'deaf friendly' training approach as they have enjoyed themselves and learnt at the same time. I am always learning something new everyday, so life at Deafax is never dull!"
Mrs Jackie Kuspizs
Assistant Accountant
"I've only recently started at Deafax, and I've been very impressed by how friendly and helpful everyone is. A key task is to make sure we record the right costs against the right projects - so getting to know what each person is doing is not only interesting but vital. It's a privilege to work in an organisation which is working hard, helping people to feel less on the outside".
Mr Andrew Mootoo
Visual Designer
"I am profoundly Deaf and a BSL user, but I have three basic languages English, BSL and Spanish. I have worked for Deafax for 10 years creating visual materials and interactive software as well as delivering training in areas such as ECDL, Photoshop, Web Design and Photography and more. My strong visual design skills have helped to create the Deafax deaf friendly stamp of approval which means the material is visual, clear and easy to understand for people of any age".
Mrs Debbie Flory
Administrator
"I have been working at Deafax for three years. I help with the administration by answering the telephone, record keeping and organising events. My work is really varied. The team here are very friendly and committed and have a really positive attitude. I feel really lucky to be working here!"
Mrs Charlie Clough
Fundraising and Resources Developer
"I started working for Deafax in 2001 as an ICT Trainer for Deaf Adults. Following that, I became a Personal Employment & Education Advisor, attained an MA in Career Advice and Guidance and then moved into a project management role for the Deaf Youth programmes. Right now I am working in a fundraising role, which is both challenging and lots of fun. Deafax is very focused and committed not just to the people that their projects support but also to their staff in enabling them to fulfil their aspirations and goals".
Mrs Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq
Resources Developer/Lead Trainer
"Since joining in 2001, I have worked as the Ethnic Minorities Liaison Officer, then I became the Deaf Adults Project Manager and now I'm working with the Deaf Youth Team. The team make a huge impact to deaf children in schools and the community who struggle to understand PSHE topics. Deaf children are able to ask questions from deaf professionals who have their own experience to offer to children so they are able to develop insight and knowledge to develop their own goals in life!"
Mr Ovais Khan

"I have been working at Deafax as a permanent member of staff for one year although before this I worked with them as a freelance consultant. I have gained lots of experience and confidence from working at Deafax and every day there are new challenges and new things to learn. I really enjoy delivering the personal development training to schools all around the country and I am very proud that I have successfully gained my ECDL qualification."
Miss Saduf Naqvi
